Our Story
Born from a simple question: how do we engage the next generation while keeping faith with the old duty?
From medieval guilds supporting orphans and widows to modern institutions funding education and welfare, the Livery tradition is rooted in benevolence. LiveryDraw is its modern expression.
Through company sponsorship, member firms support the Livery’s charitable mission while taking part in heritage-appropriate draws that offer meaningful experiences rather than cash prizes.
This is not gambling. This is fellowship — the modern expression of the Livery Chest, that ancient fund maintained by Companies to support good works in the community.
A Medieval Tradition
The Ancient Livery Chest
In medieval London, each Livery Company maintained a chest — a literal wooden strongbox — filled with members’ contributions. It served as the Company’s charitable fund, supporting widows, orphans, the sick, and those fallen on hard times.
The chest was sacred. Opening it required several keys, held by different officers, ensuring transparency and preventing misuse. Today, while most Companies keep bank accounts rather than strongboxes, the principle is unchanged: collective contributions supporting collective good.
